Why Leads Don’t Close and Why to Be Happy They Don’t.

Let’s say you’re talking with Bill about your opportunity for 2 weeks. You’ve gone over the compensation possibilities. Bill is tired of this job, he’s got no time for the kids. He’s got very little set aside for retirement. He’s seen your website, he’s even tried the products but after all he NEVER signs up and takes the plunge. Is he scared? Is he rude? Is he stupid?

Let me shed some light on this for you. If Bill doesn’t close it’s actually a good thing. Move on and talk to more people. In fact, don’t ever follow up with Bill but simply to tell him what milestone you’ve hit and that you’ll be there when he’s ready to be an entrepreneur. He’ll show up later.

Networking has a component that most people are uncomfortable with, and that is MONEY. People don’t like to know where the money GOES. Bill for instance, knew that while he was taking a chance, you were paying your rent. Bill was hoping against the failing 95% and also knows almost his full sign up is your profit.

The beauty of corporations is that the money is paid to “the brand”. Sure you hate that only 5% of the company makes 100k but that’s “them” the faceless corporate executive with stock options, bloated paydays and quietly demanding an entire staff produce tighter profits for less pay and zero time. In fact the company owns YOU. The precious retail shopper from brand “x” is now so far removed from personal interaction that speaking with a human is nearly impossible for phone menus, online customer support and instant relay chat. They don’t mind subtle threats to workers to get the puppy to sit either.

Bill is caught in “resenting” money. He doesn’t like corporations but no one has shown him proof that his $500 is going to pan out in residual income either. He doesn’t like the rich and yet doesn’t see himself as wealthy. He’s wasted ten times your signup on gym memberships that he’s never shown up to pump a single pound. Self promotion is ugly. Claiming a expert talent is boasting. When he sees where his money goes up close it just reminds him how unworthy he is for others to pay him directly.
He’s probably passed a Rolls and smirked “rich jerk, it’s easy for him”.

It’s impossible to believe in the lack of something and have plenty of it. It’s impossible to be the person others WANT to pay without wanting to pay another for their marketing, their product and their business assistance.

I’ve conquered 5-figures monthly. I am a success and I teach people to copy an entire system that’s $2000 to start up Once. They’re paying for me to show them how to make $20 grand a month. Surely their boss doesn’t like me. I talk to 100 people each week and exactly 3.5 close by the weekend. When Bill calls I have met him long ago. Bill is afraid, he’s scared. Maybe Bill is jealous and curious why I’m worth $20k per month.

Don’t be in hurry to call your leads back often if at all. You’re the expert. Move on to talk to more people. Get them all 100% of the information. Be sure they know you’re far above your product. People work with you because you Know Marketing first. Not your product. Who cares about your product. Bill isn’t sold on the product. You just do the right thing and stay sold on you, your message and your value as a marketer.
