A Beginners Guide to Trade Exhibitions - Part 1

Many companies and businesses may be thinking about advertising and promoting themselves at an exhibition, to benefit from the advantages of direct and face-to-face marketing. The question then becomes where to start and how to go about planning to attend an exhibition, how to go about getting started and what is involved. Below we give some ideas for beginner’s to the exhibitions industry.

In the UK there are several small and several large venues and the venue you might want to exhibit at, will largely depend on the type of show you wish to attend and also what your budget is. Exhibition venues such as the Harrogate International Centre are quite small and tend to hold small exhibitions and sometimes more localised shows. A venue such as the Earls Court Exhibition Centre on the other hand, often hold much bigger and more International and global exhibitions (although not exclusively).

You will need to analyse and decide what exhibitions suit the goals you are seeking to achieve from exhibiting. This will then also need to be considered alongside the logistics such as if you are able to organise to be in Scotland’s SECC Exhibition venue or whether you need to exhibit more locally for example.

One question which is quite common is how one can buy, hire or have created an exhibition stand for the event they are considering exhibiting at. This might be your first time to attend an exhibition as an exhibitor and you are very unsure as to how to go about getting an exhibition stand organised for the event.

You might want a quite small display and thus a banner stand or pop up display and tables (you can get an exhibitions kit for this purpose) or you might be interested in a larger presence and requite a custom-made or bespoke stand made especially for the event.
